Sesuul
When Heavens pass was first being discovered, many thousands of years ago, the people who made the dangerous trip up the rocky mountain face that would later be carved out for a much easier climb , were somewhat bemused. Lurking in the rocks were the usual mountain-dwellers -- insects, birds and the like -- but there, skulking around everywhere, were huge raccoons, the likes of which nobody had ever seen before. They were on average four and a half feet tall, and incredibly friendly to the people who offered them fruit or bread. Then, the founders of the Moon Temple had a brainwave: it was impossible to get horses up and down the treacherous cliff face, but these raccoons were wonderfully dexterous, agile and strong; the perfect riding animal. Nowadays, only foreigners to Nova use horses -- the natives prefer the Sesuul, which can be quite disarming to tourists.
Dwairdan
Dwairdan, meaning coiled//, is a species of massive, snake-like monsters that live in the ocean. Their scales are in a range of beautiful colours, and are extremely prized by collectors. Their huge heads are dragon-like, narrowing down to a thin, pointed nose, and their faces are disarmingly sweet and curious, with large, gleaming eyes. They have ornate frills and crests that make them quite a beautiful sight to behold. The creatures are only aggressive to humans when they feel that they, or their children, are in danger. Dwairdan live for around two thousand years, and give birth to one child in that hugely long lifespan.
